I won't speak for everyone but I certainly beleive that fanatic parents taking the watchtower too seriously can definately stunt emotional maturity. Just look at how many things a young Jw is restricted from and has to feel guilty about while others do things as naturally as breathing. I definatley think this played apart. He is also a special case as far as fame at a young age, and the effects that can have, as well. We have seen from so many child stars how tragically some of them end up. Both worlds are not grounded in reality.

Michael Jackson as a JW ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles indo you believe that the jw factor in michael jackson's life contributed in any way to him being a misfit of sorts?.
i'm wouldn't describe myself as a fan of his, but sometimes i just feel so sorry for the poor guy.. and now it's even worse!
he's responsible for children who're probably thinking that it's everyone else who's weird!

Atheism is my religion, Science is my god?

Well said. It's so true. This is pretty much the way I think. It would be nice to think that there is an entity that cares but I don't see ant evidence of it. What I do see is just what the guy says. It is science that is taking care of many of the problems in the world. No lies no threats no nonsense. Thats what I see wih my eyes. When I look at religion I see confusion broken promises lies and wanting.
If religion does not keep pace with science advances they start to become like a dinosaur. It would look awfully ridiculous for the church to teach that the earth is still flat yet they condemed Galileo for teaching this. They are responsible for stunting the growth of the mind and civilzation always lags behind because of this. Religion is a menace to society.
It is in fact man that is solving his own problems. I just hope in the end that good will triumph over evil because it ais also man that could destroy himself not god. I could see religion to a large extent being a cause of this too.

Have we, as a society, become too cynical?
by zagor ini will tell you two true stories and you judge for yourself..
few days ago i was listening on the news how some old man came to kindergarten and picked up a child.
half an hour later some other people came who turned out to be real parents of the child and were basically told that child was picked up by a strange old man.

Well, Zagor as your top two stories go, it shows theres different ways of painting the same picture. I think the whole world politically and to a large extent the maketpalce runs on that and always has. I think exageration or bending things to ones favour or disfavour is a part of life.
You think its gone too far. All this is is the modern jungle and our new way of survivng. Just look at how many ways of interpretation and religions have formed out od one book. The bible. I can't say its made the world a better place. Some might argue however that is has and that we derive our values from the ethics of christianity.
I think we can say that there is good and bad in the universe and there always has been. How you present things is less important than what kind of a person you are. Good or evil.
I beleive we must always fight against evil. The game has just become more complex because of the modern age.
It can be said too, that a lot of times, good can come out of evil I just hope in the end that good wins. Truth is relative to the observer.

Was it really all my fault...??
by Casper init just dawned on me today..., .
that - i - must have been the reason that my deceased ms husband never made elder.. ugh, as if i don't have enough guilt to carry around.
he has been deceased for 10 years now, and after reading some things on this board, i realize, i must have been his problem.

It's not you at all! Like Natas said once these goofballs make up there minds who they want in their little club that's the end of the game. You need to kiss an awful lot of ass before that happens. My brother has been in the org for 42 years and is still not an elder. He is faultless. My dad just became an elder and that's after the same length of time and comitment. These arrogant bastards need to be taught a huge lesson in humility!

As you can see my name and face are posted here and if any former witness recognizes me and wishes to do so that would be great. As of yet I suppose none have recognized me.
As far as posting names goes, the only names I'd love to post, are those of the elders who took the liberty to desroy my life with a concerted effort!

JW are total Bullies
by sandy inmy grandmother passed away the other night.
it was expected; she's been sick in/out of the hospital for a while now.
most of us are more relieved than anything else because she has been so miserable these last six months or longer.

To exercise control over the last words spoken in a persons life, with there loved ones present, is the ultimate slap in the face, and shows the extent of control these bullies have! It is the last chance at rape and extortion to squeeze every last moment of usage out of a persons life before they can finally rest.So sorry, for your loss. You do her justice by posting this!

Of course Rutherford ate and drank with drunkards. He was a drunkard. And a faithful one at that, even during prohibition. He was most certainly was a slave to it as well. Discreet? Well having a big mouth and driving two of the most expensive cars during the depression, it's kind of hard. But hey 2 out of three ain't bad!

Give Examples of How JWs Try To "Demonize" Everything
by minimus inhere's an example......years ago if a jw wanted a heart transplant or a transplant of any kind, it was considered "cannibalism".
to "prove" that this was oh so wrong, they provided an article about a person who did get a new heart donated to them and suddenly they got the old personality of the donor.
the transplant changed everything about this man and he was no longer the same normal person.......and why??
